The Details
Enhancing Access for All
From storefront stoops to curb ramps, many parts of downtown Perrysburg currently fall short of modern ADA standards. This project is guided by the findings of Fisher’s 2022 ADA Implementation Plan and will correct existing deficiencies throughout the downtown streetscape.
Here’s what we’re doing:
Curb Ramps
17 of the 26 existing curb ramps are currently non-compliant. These will be redesigned to meet ADA specifications, making it easier for strollers, wheelchairs, and walkers to navigate.
Sidewalk Slopes
Slopes currently vary from 0.6% to -8.7%, exceeding the 2% maximum. New sidewalks will offer smooth, level pathways.
Storefront Entryways
51 of 67 downtown entries do not meet step height regulations. We’re adding gently sloped walkways where possible, with planters and railings that blend into the architecture.
Accessible Parking
Currently, there are only 8 accessible spaces among 86 total spots. To change that, we’re adding in new spaces, as well as van-accessible spots in high-traffic areas.

Downtown Tree Improvement Plan
Healthy Trees for a Healthy Downtown
Trees are a vital part of our historic downtown. They offer beauty, shade, and comfort—but some of our existing trees have become diseased, decayed, or are outgrowing the infrastructure that supports them.
This project includes a Tree Replacement Strategy that prioritizes sustainability, diversity, and long-term growth.
Here’s how we’re doing it better:
Health First:
Trees and shrubs will only be removed if they are unhealthy, unsafe, or decaying.
Species Diversity:
We’re planting a variety of tree species with different bloom times to enhance the landscape all year.
Better Growing Conditions:
New soil beds (3 feet deep), larger root zones, and built-in drainage will help trees thrive.
Smarter Placement:
Trees will be repositioned away from buildings to give them room to grow, reduce future conflicts, and
protect storefronts.
Long-Term Care:
These aren’t quick fixes. We’re investing in trees that will grow strong and healthy for generations.
Trees to be Planted
We recognize how much our community values the natural beauty of Downtown Perrysburg.
This plan ensures we’re not just planting trees, but creating a sustainable and thriving environment.
FAQs
Got Questions? We’ve Got Answers.
Q: Why are you removing trees?
A: Only trees that are diseased, decayed, or unsafe are being removed. Each tree has been individually evaluated by professionals. New, healthy trees will be planted with better infrastructure to help them thrive long-term.
Q: Will downtown businesses stay open?
A: Yes! All businesses will remain open during construction. We’re working closely with business owners to ensure signage and access are maintained.
Q: Will this change the look of downtown?
A: The upgrades are designed to preserve and enhance the historic charm of downtown—not change it. Expect a cleaner, more accessible version of the place you already love.
Q: Who do I contact with concerns?
